OnStage Uxbridge invites you to our auditions for:

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, adapted for the stage by Jeremy Sams, will be lighting up the Uxbridge Music Hall from January 14th to 23rd, 2016, and we are inviting actors of all ages to join us for a fantastic musical adventure with an out-of-this-world car that flies through the air and sails the seas!

AUDITION DETAILS:

Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your scheduled audition time.

If you are interested in a principal role:

Please bring a recent photo and acting resume, and prepare a  short contemporary monologue and a musical theatre song. Please bring sheet music for our accompanist or a backing track for your audition.

If you are interested in an ensemble role:

Please bring a recent photo if possible. There will be audition forms available to fill out if you do not have an acting resume. You are encouraged to prepare a short contemporary monologue and a song if possible, but if not, you may read from the script. A short singing component will follow.

Your solo audition will be followed by a simple group dance routine, so be prepared for about an hour in total. Please wear comfortable attire that will allow you to move freely.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:

  • ENSEMBLE: KIDS, INVENTORS, SOLDIERS, TOWNSPEOPLE, ENGLISH CROWD – There are  also multiple supporting roles which will be cast from the ensemble.
  •  BARON BOMBURST – Tyrannical ruler of Vulgaria and a lover of toys. A man-child, he is very immature, needy, and whiny. Male, 35-50yrs old. Range: E4 – E5 Baritenor
  • BARONESS BOMBURST – Head of the Vulgarian Parliament and a hater of children. Tyrannical and dramatic.
    Female, 30-45 yrs old
    Range: G3 – G5 mezzo
  • BORIS – A member of the two-person Vulgarian gang that works for the Baron and Baroness. Though he is not very smart, he is the leader.
    Male, 30-45 yrs old
    Range: C4 – G5 Baritenor
  • CARACTACUS POTTS – An eccentric, brilliant, English inventor and loving father and son. His inventions and children are his life.
    Male, 30-50 yrs old
    Range: A3 – G5 Tenor
  • GORAN – One member of the two-person Vulgarian gang that works for the baron and Baroness. A dumb oaf.
    Male, 30-45 yrs old
    Range: D4 – G5 Baritenor
  • GRANDPA POTTS – Caractacus Potts’s father, who is a former war hero. He loves to tell old War stories. A sort of second father to Jeremy and Jemima.
    Male, 65-75 yrs old
    Range: C4 – E5 Baritone
  • JEMIMA POTTS – Caractacus’s daughter. She is an adventurous girl with a vivid imagination. A total child at heart who loves her family.
    Female, 8-13 yrs old
    Range: C4 – E5 Soprano
  • JEREMY POTTS – Caractacus’s son. An adventurous boy with a vivid imagination. A total child at heart who loves his family.
    Male, 8-13 yrs old
    Range: C4 – E5 Soprano
  • LORD SCRUMPTIOUS – Owner of the Scrumptious Sweet Factory. Extremely busy, important, and decisive.
    Male, 40-55 yrs old
    Speaking Role
  • THE CHILDCATCHER – He makes sure that Vulgaria is child-free. Evil and manipulative. Hates children almost as much as the Baroness. Physical agility is important.
    Adult Male, any age

  • THE TOYMAKER – With all children outlawed in Vulgaria, this toy-making genius only works for the child-like Baron. Smart but frightened.
    Male, 45-60 yrs old
    Range: C4 – E5 Baritenor
  • TRULY SCRUMPTIOUS – Daughter of the famous candy maker, Lord Scrumptious. Strong and independent, but gentle. Becomes an integral part of the Potts family.
    Female, 20-35 yrs old
    Range: A3 – E5 Soprano
